Happy New Year! Now that the Holidays are over, I think we can all agree that we don’t need to see that much food or better yet-eat that much until they come around again next year! Between the holiday parties, family gatherings and the actual days themselves, I feel like all I have been doing for the last 2 weeks is eating! When I woke up a few days after Christmas (and on a day that we had no more parties to go to and no plans that involved eating until our jeans stopped fitting), I craved a green juice, or as I like to call it - “a detox”. Because we haven’t been home all that much or had to cook, my refrigerator wasn’t as stocked as I normally keep it so I had to get creative and use what I had on hand to make my juice. Surprisingly it turned out pretty darn good and therefore, this green juice blend has become a must-have every morning! It was too good not to share!
Ingredients
1 handful a a 1/2 of Kale
2 Celery Stalks
1/2 of an Apple (Honeycrisps are my favorite-yum!)
1 Tbsp Pomegranate
1 tsp Chia Seeds
Parsley to taste (I am a HUGE fan of parsley, so I tend to go overboard)
1/2 cup water
3-4 ice cubes
Blend until smooth and pour over ice to enjoy ;)
The next time you are craving a salad that you can drink or a fresh and clean start to your day, I hope you will give this a try. Its also a great recipe to clean out your fridge before stuff starts to go bad! You can also add different things like coconut milk, yogurt or a nut butter to make it more like a smoothie and keep you fuller a little bit longer!

ReplyDeleteI like parsley in my food, but can't stand it in my smoothies/juices. But I will try the recipe without it, apples and celery sound great!
